Library Opening

We are delighted with our newly renovated library! I’m sure you will agree from the pictures below that the area has greatly improved and is now a much more inviting learning space. Money raised from Christmas Fair and Movie Night last term has contributed towards the cost. A huge well done to all staff and children involved. We now have a team of 16 librarians who are responsible for organising, resourcing and managing the area. The children are enjoying the space with Jack commenting, ‘I really like the bright colours and how everything matches’. Local author, Glenda Young, was delighted when we approached her to officially open the library for us. Glenda attended Ryhope school as a young girl. She worked with the librarians to welcome all classes to the new space and went on to meet every child in the school. She talked to us about her love of reading, her favourite books to read as a child and how Ryhope Library was where her love of books first began! The children felt privileged to meet a published author and were motivated by her knowledge of the local area and explanations of how she became a published author.

Thanks also to Rouse Upholstery for their generosity in recovering the Storytelling Chair.
